On his 22nd birthday, jørn ølnes got a phone call from his father, Asbjørn Ølnes.
“It was the 14th of July in 1997, and my father invited me to his house to give me a birthday present; I was, as most people would have been, a little excited. The gift turned out to be my own business. The first thing that crossed my mind was, ‘Oh, no, not another network marketing company.’ We had been involved with several companies with more or less luck. The first time I tasted TAHITIAN NONI ® Juice, I was a skeptic and did not understand its purpose. I was not able to see its extent.”
It was not always easy to be young in this business. “After about nine months I had burned out my contact list, and I was not as motivated as I used to be,” he says. “I then went out to work as a travel guide. I was gone for two years and came home in 2000. The organization had then grown to over a thousand people. I was pretty nervous about getting started again. I had to learn everything from scratch. There were a lot of people that had more experience than me, and I was supposed to be their upline. It was not a good feeling.”
In 2003 Jørn went to Dubai, spending his time experiencing as many things as possible while trying to build a business. But Jørn experienced a lot more when he focused on what he learned. “I learned that it’s not wise to cross the creek for water. You use an enormous amount of resources, and the results still fail to appear,” he says. “It’s all a process, a constant process; it will never be perfect. You can only take it step by step, and acknowledge your mistakes on the way, and in hindsight you see that you should have played your cards differently. It is the actual process that is important.”
“A lot of people ask me what to do and how to do it, but there are many ways to Rome! There is no right or wrong,” states Jørn. “We all have our distinctive stamp, and what works for me will not necessarily work for others. The only thing that repays is to follow a system.”
As a last piece of advice, Jørn mentions, “Mastering new things makes you confident about the future. And I am confident that I will handle whatever the future brings!”
